]]> Even the most beautiful journey comes to an end at some point. The good news is that this journey was just the beginning and many more will follow. You can find out what Omani is up to, where she is heading and what marvellous works of art she will be creating over the next few years on her website and Instagram channel. You can read about how we fared at our Artist Residence in the Kiyoshima Apartment in Jan’s Artist Daily, and you can follow his other travels on his blog.

In December, Jan summarised the last few months and looked ahead to the next few months. It’s about the last few days in Beppu, the time in Lisbon and Espinho and the next plans. And you can find out why Omani and Jan parted ways. Forever?

]]> It’s been over a week since the last post. That’s because Tokyo had us completely and we couldn’t do anything else because of all the stress. 😜 In fact – who would have thought it – 10 days are hardly enough to adequately experience Tokyo, let alone make deeper acquaintances. Nevertheless, we did some networking and hung around in the relevant areas such as Akihabara, Harajuku, Koenji and Asakusa. And once again, chance played into our hands: We found the connection to a social space in Busan already in Tokyo.

]]> Just before saying goodbye to Beppu we enjoyed two hours of karaoke thanks to the fantastic Laura and would do it again. We also experienced a Shinkansen ride on which everything was different than announced and thought – including a 36-minute delay. 😱 The accommodation in Tokyo now meets all expectations: it is very small and everything you need for life has been stuffed into it. It’s just nicer to work somewhere else. We’ll tell you in the next podcast whether we can find nice work spaces.

PS: Omani was right and I didn’t even notice: Laura started another song at karaoke, even though we had to leave. I thought it was advertising. 😆

PPS: In the night of the next day we had our first earthquake alarm. At 4:20am the smartphone went off at full volume with “EARTHQUAKE EARTHQUAKE” and shortly afterwards it shook as if we were lying on the train. After a few seconds the spook was over and we had our first earthquake behind us. 🫨

]]> We went one better: After three weeks of Beppu, we received an invitation to our own exhibition and took advantage of it. Now we are part of Kurukuru‘s 2nd Anniversary Festival. 🥳 This time we’ll tell you directly from the Kurukuru how the preparation is going and what we’re planning!

In addition, after a week of intensive preparation for the exhibition, we used the sun and made the acquaintance of wild monkeys at Takasakiyama Monkey Park. 🐒

]]> We made it and arrived in the Beppu art scene. 🤩 Yesterday we got to visit the small shop with a café and art business in the Kitakoka – the studios at the end of the train station, which we already told you about. This inspiring little shop called Kurukuru is run by the lovely Miki who smiled at us as soon as we walked in. And since Miki thinks art is just as worthy of support as we do, we meet great new people there every day. Thank you, Miki!
